We are looking forward to you joining us at our annual bowls registration next Saturday afternoon (Sat 14 Apr from 2p.m.). In addition to completing formalities there will be an opportunity to catch up on Club and members news over a cup of tea.

The Green is in very good shape thanks to the magnificent work and dedication of our superb grounds team (especially the dynamic duo: Dave and Frank). The Committee recognise the importance of their role and the need for a first rate green and has made it our priority requirement for the season. Besides training up our team, we are making significant investment into increasing and improving the grounds equipment and spending to a standard that the club and team deserve.

We have another busy schedule of fixtures this summer with few gaps. It would be difficult to undertake our planned renovations until the end of the season, thus we will now use the closed season to complete planned improvements so that we can have them ready for next year’s 100th birthday celebrations.

Bowls England have kindly agreed to send a representative team in 2019 to celebrate our centenary and new amenities. We will be shaping the other celebration events as soon as we have the coveted BE match date. We intend to host a range of attractive matches and receptions.

To increase our hosting capacity we will have a large permanent marquee (28 feet x 28 feet) erected on the croquet lawn for 3 months this summer (June – August). This ‘wedding style’ marquee will be furnished to host receptions and barbecue functions of 60 – 80 guests, which will greatly enhance our opportunity to party and generate additional funds. If this venture is a success we will repeat the concept next summer to further supplement our centenary programme.

Unfortunately, we have been unable to secure ownership of the old domain name so we have had to open a new site but we hope that you will find appropriate and a little less invasive. Please visit www.sheptonbowls.info and let us know what you think.

See you next Saturday afternoon.
